Energy
Hundreds of solar panels cover our roof, and on a good day they power the centre outright. A biomass boiler, fuelled by renewable woodchip, handles our heating and hot water — and new for 2025, rapid EV charging is available in the car park for customers and staff alike.
Waste & plastic
Around 90% of the compost we sell, in store and online, is now peat-free. Our carrier bags are 100% biodegradable cornstarch, breaking down within 90 days, and we recycle cardboard, paper and plastic throughout the site. Bring your old plant pots back — we recycle those too, and buy pots made from recycled plastic wherever we can.
Local & community
We buy from Herefordshire suppliers wherever we can, cutting food miles and keeping money in the local economy. We prioritise FSC-certified timber, stock organic feeds and pet-safe alternatives, and support local schools and charities with their own gardening and green projects.
